Lucas Farms
Near Meta, Missouri, Joan Strong takes care of Lucas Farms for her brother. The farm nurtures and sells natural calves for beef and seed stock. Animals are raised predominanatly on grass with no artificial hormones or uneccessary antibiotics. The farm runs Black Angus mother cows, and now the South Poll breed since 2008. South Polls were bred to grow well on grass and produce good beef for a descriminating consumer market. (LucasFarm.com)

Connie Cunningham raises free-range grass-fed Gascon geese, timing harvest for sumptuous Christmas goose dinner. She moved near Morrison, to continue the family farm there, from Chicago, giving up a lucrative landscape design enterprise in favor of raising natural geese. Wolz Berry Farm
Kenny Wolz and his family grow organic berries, for sale in early summer, near Chamois. Kenny also produces goat's milk and natural honey, boasting a tasty ice cream treat marrying milk, berries and honey. He also raises organic pigs and cattle, hardy European breeds with good dispositions.
